Modular architecture of MVTS Pro allows for optimization the system's capacity use, enables flexible approach to proxy mode and ensures business-critical dependability.
MVTS Pro comprises two functional layers: Traffic Switch and Traffic Manager which is a focal point of the system's intellect and repository of data.
Traffic Switch handles H.323 and SIP VoIP traffic, performs kernel level protocol translation, normalization and codec conversion.
Traffic Switch functions as a SIP Registrar, Gatekeeper and Session Border Controller and provides an IP-to-IP connectivity interface for safe and secure interworking with customers and peering partners, as well as enables interoperability of multi-vendor equipment and conceals the network topology.
Additionally, Traffic Switch is the source of call statistics, which is visualized and analyzed by means of the Traffic Manager GUI.
Traffic Switch incorporates several types of functional modules: Load Balancer/ H.323 Gatekeeper/ SIP Registrar, Call Agent, Signaling Module, Media Module and Management Module.
Traffic Manager is responsible for authentication of VoIP endpoints, call routing, call analysis, number validation and transformation, traffic monitoring/balancing, notification and alerting.
Traffic Manager incorporates three types of functional modules: Routing module, Database and Web Server.
The Database keeps MVTS Pro configuration files and CDRs and allows data export into external billing systems. The Database can incorporate information about several million dial peers. Data retention is ensured by database backups.
Redundancy
MVTS Pro modular architecture allows various redundancy schemes which ensure high level of dependability. The system's key modules are subject to the network architecture and carrier's requests for business-critical dependability and fault-tolerant operation. The operator can choose between making only some of MVTS Pro modules dual redundant (partial back up) and providing standby items for all functional components of the system (complete back up). Import and export of data, configuration updates and other procedures are performed without interruption of service.
